Babelsberg well prepared for the future of the media and IT industries

The second edition of the technology conference CHANGING THE PICTURE took place on 19 and 20 November 2014. This time national and international industry experts have discussed during two days issues of changes in the core areas of the entire film and TV industry and the massive changes in the value chain or business models related to that.

Organized by the transfer media gGmbH it has been first and foremost an initiative of companies based in Babelsberg. Partners and sponsors are media.connect brandenburg, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the states of Berlin and Brandenburg and the European Regional Development Fund.

National and international industry experts guaranteed visitors a very concrete added value for their daily work. On the first day numerous companies took the opportunity during so-called Workspaces to present their creative ideas and projects such as Rotor Film, Wonderlamp Industries, Drama Queen, Exozet, the MIZ-Babelsberg, rbb, Interlake, cENTERTAINMENT, filmwerte, Studio Babelsberg, the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and the Hasso Plattner Institute.

International speakers including representatives of successful productions such as "Avatar", of modern technologies (Celtix) or format developments (BBC WRITER's ROOM) guaranteed especially at the 2nd conference day exciting discussions and a wide range of experiences.

On 18 November, about 100 industry representatives met to the "dwerft"-conference. The Babelsberg Research Alliance "dwerft" presented practical new approaches of linking film and TV technologies. In four different slots the project partners discussed with speakers and guests the technological challenges of linked work processes in production, archiving and distribution of audiovisual media.

Three very substantive days in Babelsberg demonstrate the know-how in the field of Film-IT on such a small space.
