Familien-Film-Live-Konzert: „Die unendliche Geschichte“
The volumetric studio Volucap was honored twice at the 3rd international VR NOW Awards for Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality and 360-degree video. Volucap received the VR Technology Award“ and the „VR NOW Grand Prize“. The jury honored the most innovative and of highest quality project of the year.
Volucap is the first commercial volumetric video studio on the European mainland in which humans and objects can be scanned three-dimensional and lifelike. The studio is located at the fx center on the grounds of Studio Babelsberg and is equipped with 32 cameras. The associated basic technology „3D Human Body Reconstruction" (3DHBR) was developed by the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute. The technology can be used as a new kind of storytelling in the film industry as well as across all sectors. For the commercial use, the shareholders ARRI Cine Technik GmbH & Co. Betriebs KG, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Interlake System GmbH, Studio Babelsberg AG and UFA GmbH founded the Volucap GmbH.
The award show was part of the VR NOW Con & Awards on the occasion of the new conference MediaTech Con that took place on November 14-15 in Potsdam Babelsberg.
